"To ask the Chief Executive on progress to date on the review on the operation of the “Living with Trees” policy and to include in the report how many trees in the Palmerstown Lucan Area were knocked or damaged in the recent Hurricane/Storm and their locations."

REPORT:

South Dublin County Council's Tree Management Policy 2015-2020 'Living With Trees' was adopted at a meeting of the Council on July 13, 2015. This is a 5-Year management policy which is now scheduled for a mid-term review in accordance with the relevant specific action listed in the Action Plan which accompanies and supports the Tree Management Policy. It is intended to present the mid-term review for discussion at the next meeting of the Environment, Public Realm & Climate Change Strategic Policy Committee in early 2018.

Arising from storm Ophelia on October 16th last, the Council’s tree maintenance crews pruned 26 trees and removed 10 trees in the Lucan and Palmerstown areas.  The locations where remedial works were carried out on storm damaged trees included Ballyowen Lane, Beech Park, Beech Grove, Colthurst Road & Crescent, Chalet Gardens, Esker Park, Hillcrest Close, Larchfield Way, Mill Lane Park, Mount Andrew estate, Palmers Crescent, Willsbrook Way, Willsbrook Park and Woodville Avenue.
