QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the Chief Executive to confirm the schedule now being followed in respect of the Tallaght Town Centre Local Area Plan and will he make a statement?"

REPLY:

"South Dublin County Council (SDCC) has embarked on the process of preparing a new Tallaght Town Centre Local Area Plan (LAP). From Monday 3^rd July to Friday 11^th August 2017, SDCC undertook non statutory public consultation on the pre-draft LAP for a six week period.

At the September 2017 Council Meeting, the Chief Executive’s Report was issued to the Elected Members for noting. Work is now underway on preparing a draft LAP. It is anticipated that the draft LAP will be placed on public display in early 2018. The elected members of SDCC will be briefed on the draft LAP prior to the commencement of statutory public consultation. Once the draft LAP is published, the following statutory timeframes for come into effect:

Stage	Duration
Public Display / Consultation on Draft Plan	6 weeks
Prepare Chief Executive’s Report	6 weeks
Consideration of Report by Council and Adoption by Council or	6 weeks
Publish Notice of Amendments Public Display / Consultation Prepare Chief Executive’s Report Consideration by Council	3 weeks 4 weeks 4 weeks 6 weeks
Following adoption LAP comes into effect	4 weeks

 It is expected that the new LAP will be adopted in the summer/autumn 2018."
