To ask the Manager to report upon what impact the removal of the toll from the

Westlink Bridge and the imposition of a toll at other points along the M50 is likely to have upon the traffic using other roads within the county? 

REPLY

It is not possible to give an indication of the impact of removing the toll on the Westlink and the imposition of a toll at other points along the M50 on other roads in the county or on the operation of the M50 itself in the absence of any knowledge of the location and number of additional toll points, the nature of the alternative tolling to be introduced, the timeframe within which it might be introduced, and the operating parameters that may apply. Completion of the M50 Upgrade works, including ancillary work on the intersections with national radial routes could be expected to have a significant impact on traffic patterns also, and would need  to be considered in any assessment in addition to alterations in the tolling system.
