MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE

Tuesday, June 27, 2017

MOTION NO. 11

MOTION: Councillor E. O'Brien

"That this area committee expresses its concern at proposed patrols of Griffeen Valley Park, by concerned residents of the Lucan area and requests the Chief Executive liaise with the community policing unit of Lucan Garda Station to endeavour to deal with outbreaks of anti social behaviour in co ordination with the Council's park ranger service."

REPORT:

During parks opening hours there are currently 4 Park Rangers employed to patrol the parks in the Palmerstown, Lucan and North Clondalkin areas. The Rangers are mobile and Griffeen Valley Park is included on the route that the Rangers visit. The Council works closely with the Gardaí who provide support for our staff through their patrols and mountain bike unit to deter illegal activities. Communities can also play a role in the provision of safer parks by reporting anti-social activities to the Gardaí or directly to the Council.
