MOTION: Councillor C. McCann

"That this Committee calls on the Chief Executive to have the waste ground on Bancroft Close cleared to address the issue of illegal dumping and to ensure the safety of pedestrians."

REPORT:

"The area in question at Bancroft Close has been inspected and was found to be overgrown and with some illegally dumped materials present.  A clean up of the area will be organised in the coming weeks, the weeds and long grass present will then be cut back.  The area is closed off in part by a temporary security fence which is at the back of the footpath and forms part of the external boundary of Bancroft Park.  The boundary wall of the park needs to be rebuilt at this location, the extent of works required will be evident once the area has been cleared as proposed.  As the public realm improvement works programme for 2017 has been finalised and approved and is fully committed, it will most likely be necessary to include the rebuilding of this wall in the 2018 works programme."
