QUESTION NO. 17
QUESTION: Councillor B. Leech
"To ask the Chief Executive that in view of the number of horses that have been left neglected on the waste ground that is fenced in at the end of Cushlawn Park and Avenue opposite the business Park. Can the Council give some indication as to what this land will be used for. The residents at this stage have had enough of the illegal dumping there?"
REPLY:
"To date in 2017 only two complaints regarding (the same( horse in Cushlawn Park were received. The largest complaint relating to 8 horses on this site was received in August 2016.
When a report is received regarding loose horses, South Dublin County Council's Horse Contractor is informed and requested to attend the site and seize any loose horses. The Contractor may require Garda assistance in some of these seizures.
All sightings of loose horses during normal (office) hours should be reported promptly and directly to the Council to afford our Horse Contractor the best chance of seizure, and all reports of sightings of loose horses outside of office hours should be made directly to the Gardaí.
Sightings of horses in back gardens should also be reported immediately.
These lands are zoned EE "to provide for enterprise and employment related uses" in the South Dublin County Development Plan and currently there are no plans for this site."
