MOTION NO. 7

MOTION: Councillor B. Bonner

"This committee commends the work being done by the Sports Partnership in the council in the Clondalkin area.  They re currently supporting a large number of operation transformation in schools and clubs in the area.  They also have a number of their staff working in schools on Sports and outdoor education programmes.  The athletics season is approaching and the partnership will be working on the inter school athletics meetings.  The great work being done by this section of the council should be recognised and acknowledged."

REPORT:

The Council through the Sports Development Officers and the Sports Partnership run many programmes and initiatives throughout the year.  The Primary Schools Cross Country Athletics Programme has just begun for 2017 and now has the largest number of schools involved ever.  They also support local community groups to run programmes and events in their own area.  Operation Transformation is one such initiative where they support local groups to run the programme in their own area.
