A STRATEGY TOWARDS CLIMATE CHANGE ACTION PLANS FOR THE DUBLIN LOCAL AUTHORITIES

REPORT:

At the September 2016 Meeting of the Environment, Public Realm and Climate Change Strategic Policy Committee, a presentation was made by Dr. Gerry Wardell, City of Dublin Energy Management Agency on behalf of the 4 Dublin Local Authorities in respect of the Draft Strategy towards Climate Change above.

The presentation outlined the 7 focus areas identified as having the greatest potential to help move towards a zero carbon society and adapt to the effects of climate change. The Draft Strategy went on non-statutory public consultation. The Draft Strategy sets out how Climate Change Action Plans will be developed.

A total of 33 submissions were received and the Draft Strategy was reviewed and edited to take account of these submissions.

A presentation summarising the outcome of the process was made to the February 2017 Meeting of the Environment, Public Realm and Climate Change Strategic Policy Committee. A summary report of the consultation process, copies of submissions received and the revised Draft Strategy were circulated in advance of the Meeting.

A copy of the revised Draft Strategy is being circulated with this Report. Members in attendance indicated their satisfaction with the revised Draft Strategy. It is therefore recommended that the Strategy towards Climate Change Action Plans for the Dublin Local Authorities is noted.
