QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan
To ask the Manager how many MembersReps have been made over the past five years in relation to the Playspace Programme, specifically queries relating to anti-social behaviour and maintenance.
REPLY:
In the five years between 2012 and 2016 there have been 211 MembersReps in total logged under the ‘playground’ category. Representations regarding playspaces are also included under that category.
The playspace programme was presented to the Council in February 2014 and 14 playspaces have been completed to date. This represents a significant increase (nearly double) in the numbers of playgrounds / playspaces in the county since commencement of the playspace programme.
During the active implementation stage of the playspace programme (from June 2014 to the present) 172 MembersReps have been received under ‘playgrounds’. (As mentioned above these queries may also relate to either playgrounds or playspaces).
- 28 of these were queries requesting maintenance, upgrades and / or repairs.
- 9 of these were queries relating to anti-social behaviour, or gathering concerns.
The vast majority of queries since 2014 were in relation to requests for new playgrounds or playspaces to be installed in various areas, or asking for updates on the progress of installation.
