Homeless families are accommodated in commercial hotels and hostel accommodation throughout the Dublin Region. Due to the limited number of placements available for family type accommodation the self-accommodation option is offered enabling those families to source their own emergency accommodation in an area/location suitable to their needs. In addition SDCC has 64 rooms in Tallaght Cross and recently the 9 housing units of the former women's refuge in the Respond facility at Cookstown Road has been reopened for homeless women with children.
All homeless emergency accommodation is funded directly through the DRHE. All beds under the control and management of SDCC are fully occupied continuously. All other emergency accommodation within the SDCC administrative area which is managed by the Central Placement Services would also have full occupancy levels.
