QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

To ask the Chief Executive for a detailed update on the three year capital programme to develop additional allotment sites at Lucan, Corkagh and Tymon?

REPLY:

It is intended to undertake a review of the provision of allotments in South Dublin in 2017. This review will focus on, inter alia:

• The numbers using the existing site
• Reviewing and updating the current waiting list
• The enhancement of the existing sites
• Working with the South Dublin Allotments Association in compiling information and gathering views
• Assessing the need for additional allotment sites
• Assessing the need for facilities within the allotment sites

The current programme to develop additional sites is as follows:

• Tymon Park: detailed design stage.
• Corkagh Park: on hold pending report on Tourism Feasibility Study.
• Lucan: alternative site being investigated

It is intended to bring a report to the Elected Members in Autumn 2017
