COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
Monday, February 13, 2017
MOTION NO.14
MOTION: Councillor M. Ward
This Council agrees that those who have not returned their housing needs assessment form are not immediately excluded from the housing list and that the deadline is extended until at least 31st of March in line with Dublin City Council, furthermore this Council agrees that all possible attempts are made by the management to contact people who have failed to return the housing needs assessment form.
REPORT:
The Council wrote to each applicant on its Social Housing List prior to 21st September 2015 using the current address provided by the applicant.
Each applicant (included on South Dublin County Council‘s Housing List prior to September 21st, 2015) were asked to complete an online form and provide documentary evidence of any changes in their circumstances and return this information to South Dublin County Council.
They were advised that should they fail to return this information within the specified time, their application for social housing support would be terminated.
Voluntary Organisations dealing with persons in need of accommodation are also asked to advise their clients to contact South Dublin County Council, if they had not already done so to ensure that they are included in the Assessment. In addition advertisements were placed in local press, Social Media and the Councils Website. For this HNA an online system was provided which proved popular. Where applicants did not respond to the online request they were again written to and were rang where phone numbers were known.
However the Council is undertaking a similar approach as Dublin City Council and dealing with late returns on a case by case basis. Anyone who contacts the Allocations section with reasonable reasons for not contacting us nor submitting their documents are not excluded and are if eligible put back onto the list without loss of time from previous list.
