MOTION NO.13

MOTION: Councillor M. Duff

In an effort to ensure that all senior citizen tenants of South Dublin County Council have warm and secure homes, this Council calls on the Manager to immediately undertake a programme of inspections on senior citizen housing to determine how many homes need a complete refit of windows and doors and how many just need replacement front and/or back doors, and to report back to this Council the results of such inspections and give a commitment to securing the funding and carrying out the required works, within a reasonable timeframe.  

REPORT:

The Council will carry out inspections of senior citizen housing throughout the county to establish the condition of the windows and doors in these units.  The results of the inspection survey will be brought to the Housing SPC for discussion and report.

It should be noted that priority has been given over the years on the replacement of windows and doors where assessed to senior citizens if and when needed.
