MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

Mayors Business

That the elected members compliment and congratulate the campaigners for the 2500 strong petition to save the “Silver Bridge” linking Palmerstown and Farmleigh across the River Liffey, delivered on the 26^th January to the Mayor of South Dublin and the Deputy Mayor of Fingal, and, while accepting that the Bridge in question is vested in Fingal County Council, requests that the Chief Executive initiate immediate discussions with his counterpart in Fingal County Council, and in consultation with the campaigners, bring forward an outline restoration plan for the Bridge for consideration at the May meeting of South Dublin County Council.

REPORT:

Contact will be made with Fingal County Council with a view to preparing a brief report detailing the consideration/constraints involved in progressing this project. The report will be brought back to Economic Development SPC in the first instance (as this is a tourism related matter) and then brought forward to Council.
