QUESTION NO.22
QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor
To ask the CEO if he could evaluate the effectiveness of bus lanes throughout the county and if he has identified bus lanes where you never see a bus and if he will make a statement in the matter. Charlie O'Connor
REPLY:
Bus lanes are a very important part of the urban roads network. There are a number of bus lanes in the county which have been designed to cater for future bus movements. At present a number of these bus lanes have a temporary suspension on their bus lane status and as such are not subject to statutory regulations. Where communities feel that a bus lane is ineffective or redundant we are always prepared to consider and discuss proposals for suspension or alteration with Dublin Bus.
In many cases the NTA make a significant investment in developing bus lanes and such cases for suspension are unlikely to be successful.
