QUESTION NO. 8
QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Brien
"To ask the Chief Executive for a report on the recent increase in anti-social behaviour and burning out of bins in Griffeen Valley park and the councils plans to deal with the issue?"
REPLY:
There have been a number of wheelie bin fires on the west side of the footbridge beside the dog run. This has previously been a relatively quiet area within the park with little antisocial activity taking place. Fires have also taken place near this location in front of the bench that was installed on the north side of dog run. This bench was installed to address a lack of seating in the park on foot of a request under Motion 24 at the Lucan ACM in October 2015.
It is highly likely that the provision of this bench has contributed to the antisocial activities in this area. While it is not currently proposed to remove this bench the area will be monitored and should antisocial activities persist then there may be no option but to remove the bench.
