MOTION NO. 12

MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons

"That this area committee get an  update report on RIC Barracks (this issue is over 2 years old) which is reportaly rat infested, to ask that SDCC consider a compulsory purchase order for Housing use as a possible solution and also to update on actions from last motions passed at area meetings and Development plan meetings."

REPORT:

The investigation into alleged endangerment of a protected structure at the RIC Barracks, Nangor Road is continuing.  As the committee is aware, the Planning Authority has experienced difficulties arranging authorised access to the property to establish the condition of the interior of the building.

New information regarding ownership has come to the attention of the Council recently.  A letter has issued on 6^th September and a response is awaited to same.

There are no proposals to compulsory purchase the building
