QUESTION NO.2
QUESTION: Councillor E. O'Brien
"To ask the Chief Executive to report on the current status of the tender for works to upgrade the running track at Newcastle Road following receipt by Lucan Harriers of sports capital funding and in particular to confirm when it is envisaged the tendering process will begin noting that pre tender documents have been furnished to the Department of Transport and Sport."
REPLY:
The design process for the upgrading of the Athletics Track at Esker Park, Lucan is not yet complete. A meeting was held with the club and the consultants on the 7th December 2016 to review progress and clarify the design intent. As soon as the design and tender documentation has been completed and agreed with the club the documentation will be forwarded to the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport (DTTAS) for approval to go to tender. It is anticipated that the documentation will be forwarded to the DTTAS at the end of January 2017. When/if approval is granted, the project will then proceed to tender. The expectation is that the project should commence on the ground by May 2017; assuming that all of the necessary documentation, tendering and approvals deadlines have been met.
