MOTION: Councillor P. Gogarty

"That the Chief Executive provides a report on the plan for Christmas tree collections in 2016/17, including an updated report on what worked and what didn't last year and what improvements are planned this year."

REPORT:

"The dates for the Christmas Tree Recycling Programme as advertised on the Councils website are from Wednesday 4th January to Friday 13th January 2017 inclusive. This service is free and is for domestic household trees only. Signage will be placed at the various locations indicating that it is an official recycling point."

The Christmas Tree recycling locations for 2016/2017 are:

 Lucan

1. Beechpark open space
2. Sarsfield Park open space
3. Haydens Lane Car Park in Griffeen Valley Park
4. Foxborough open space

Palmerstown

1. Glenaulin Park
2. Woodfarm Acres

A new security service was piloted at the Beech Park site between the hours of 17:00 to 1:00 on Friday 8th, Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th January 2016. This new arrangement proved to be effective and there were no fires recorded at this site in 2016. It is proposed to continue this arrangement in 2017 commencing on Friday 6th January until Sunday 8th."
