MOTION NO. 15

MOTION: Councillor P. Foley

"That the chief executive  give an updated timeline for the provision of the anticipated phases of the Dodder Cycle Way."

REPORT:

"During 2016 the NTA have provide funding to South Dublin County Council (SDCC) to procure consultants Roughan & O'Donovan to carry out an Environmental and Ecological appraisal for the Dodder Green Route corridor based on an emerging preferred route across SDCC, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council (DLR) and Dublin City Council (DCC). The emerging preferred routes have been identified within the SDCC and DLR section of the route, however some additional preliminary design work is required within the DCC section to fully evaluate the route options. This work is currently ongoing and is expected to be completed by the end of 2016. Once the emerging preferred route has been identified for the full length of the scheme this will then allow the Environmental and Ecological appraisal for the Dodder Green Route to be finalised.

Subject to the completion of the Environmental and Ecological appraisal, it is hoped that each of three Local Authorities will be in a position to proceed to preliminary design stage and public consultation as part of the planning consent stage early during 2017, for the sections within their own Local Authority area. This would then allow for the scheme to advance to detailed design stage and subsequently on into the construction stage, subject to funding, by the end of 2017."
