MOTION NO. 18

MOTION: Councillor B. Bonner

"This committee agrees that a much improved transportation infra structure needs to be in place to service the proposed large housing development at Grange Castle  / Corkagh on the outer ring road.  This infrastructure should include improved bus service to the city centre and comprehensive bus links to the Luas stations at nearby Citywest/ Saggart and to the railway line at Kishogue and/ or Clondalkin station.  That this improved transport infra structure should be cooper fastened as a pre requisite for planning of such a large scale development." 

REPORT:

SDCC can only advise Dublin Bus, Luas and Irish Rail of anticipated development within the county. As part of the planning process we will ensure that appropriate set down / stopping facilities are provided.

If the investment is not occurring at national level in appropriate infrastructure to enable the expansion or commencement of new routes SDCC cannot control this. All national policy is fully behind improved public transport and related travel methods. Accordingly we can only make the various bodies aware of our plans and hope that they can deliver the infrastructure.
