QUESTION NO.12
QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole
"To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the provision of an MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) for the Lucan area including a proposed schedule of public consultation?"
REPLY:
"A sum of money has been included in the Capital Programme for 2017 to undertake a feasibility study on the proposal to provide MUGAs and/or other related facilities throughout the county. The proposal arose from concerns about the lack of opportunities for teenagers in our parks and open spaces and particularly since the inception of the Play Space programme: and where some concern has been voiced over the tendency in some cases for these play spaces to be an attractor for teenagers. It is anticipated that a report on this study should be available in mid-2017 and, if positive, it could lead to a programme for the roll out of these in a similar manner to the Play Space Programme and which is due to conclude in 2018."
