COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, October 25, 2016
MOTION NO. 23
MOTION: Councillor D. O'Brien
"To ask the Chief Executive for a report on the cost of the CCTV that was installed in Tandys Lane. What was the tendering process for this and was the successful tender the best value the council could get?
REPORT:
"The Council is required to have an organisational focus on good practice in purchasing, and must ensure that procedures are in place to achieve value for money and to ensure high standards of openness, transparency and compliance with all relevant public procurement guidelines and legislation.
To achieve this the Council invite tenders and enter into contracts with supppliers for the provision of goods and services, and works. Similarly, at national level, the Office of Government Procurement (OGP) establishes frameworks for use by the whole public sector and staff involved in procurement must work to ensure that all national and regional contracts and frameworks are fully utilised throughout the organisation where appropriate.
The Council currently has formal security contracts for, inter alia, the supply and installation of CCTV systems. This contract was put in place following a formal public procurement process, and it is incumbent that all requisites are procured through the approved contract while this contract lasts.
We are satisfied that the Council achieved value for money."
