QUESTION NO. 12

QUESTION: Councillor E. O'Brien

"To ask the Chief Executive to provide an update on the Village Improvement works in Lucan and Palmerstown and to estimate when the next phases of each development will commence?"

REPLY:

1. Palmerstown

It was agreed during preliminary discussions with the elected members that additional decorative lighting would be installed at the footbridge crossing the R148 from the Village to Kennelsfort Road. This lighting is currently being installed and will improve the light levels on the deck of the bridge.

Paving repairs were also carried out in the Village recently and Chapel Lane is being relined with a double yellow line on one side to ensure ease of access into Stewarts Hospital.

There are no plans in the short term to carry out any further works. However the Villages Initiative is a rolling programme and these may be considered in the future.

2. Lucan

Lucan Village Paving Repairs on Main Street are nearing completion. There was a delay on availability of material for the newly refurbished tree pits.

The preliminary design for the Lucan Bridge Plaza completed the Part VIII process in May 2015. Detailed design of this scheme will commence shortly with a view to commencing on site in the summer of 2017.

The design for the Village Green has been revised and the Part VIII process for this will commence before Christmas 2016.
