QUESTION NO. 22

QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Brien

"To ask the Chief Executive for an update on what progress have been made so far on providing facilities for Adamstown Cricket Club in Corkagh Park?"

REPLY:

"Adamstown Cricket Club who are currently based in Corkagh Park have the use of one large cricket field and a smaller practice field. In addition they were given permission to install 2 artificial cricket wickets, a container in the park approximately 2 years ago and a second container last year. The club recently enquired about installing a training net facility in the park and a meeting was convened on site on 14th September 2016 to discuss this proposal.

At the meeting it was explained to the Club that the facilities that they are installing and requesting are being carried out without any regard to the future development of the club. In the absence of an overall plan for the club the Council is unaware of what direction the club are going and what services and facilities they will look for in the future. Prior to any decisions being made on the installation or provision of additional facilities, the club were asked to provide a Management Development Plan. The Club representatives at the meeting agreed to prepare and submit and plan for consideration.  No plan has been received to date."
