QUESTION: Councillor K. Mahon

"To ask the Chief Executive to report as to whether any progress has been made on the following - Following a motion passed at Tallaght Area Committee meeting on March 23rd 2015 (Motion 9) and a follow up question on September 28th 2015 (Q24), the libraries service undertook to investigate the establishment of a Special Endeavour Award For Adult Literacy, possibly in conjunction with NALA?"

REPLY:

"South Dublin Libraries are happy to work with NALA to facilitate a Special Endeavour Award for Adult Literacy.  The Library Department has been in contact with NALA to discuss setting up this award.  A meeting is organised for later this month to progress this further.  Library staff will be attending the NALA Family Learning Conference on 30th November and we will continue to forge new connections with NALA.  We will keep Members updated as this project progresses."
