MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE

Monday, October 24, 2016

MOTION NO. 3

MOTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"That this Tallaght Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to immediately restore and maintain the presence of a School Warden at the junction of Old Bawn Road and Seskin View Road noting that the absence of this Warden in this school term has created much upset and concern in the local school community and will he present an update on his efforts to deal with the matter."

REPORT:

"The withdrawal of the morning School Warden service at the junction of Old Bawn/Seskin View Road/Old Bawn Road has arisen as a consequence of the resignation of a School Warden at another school crossing in the area.

Every effort is made to provide cover at all School Warden crossing points across the County having regard to crossing priorities and available resources.  Unfortunately, when relief cover is not available, as happens from time to time, it becomes necessary to temporarily relocate existing School Wardens to cover at priority crossings.  In instances where cover cannot be provided, schools are notified immediately.  These situations are monitored closely, and immediately when cover becomes available, normal service resumes.

All incoming Relief Wardens have now received Garda clearance and offers of employment have been issued and it is hoped that Wardens will be available to commence work in early November following their training."
