QUESTION NO. 5

QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner

"To as the Chief Executive could an update be provided on the case of illegal dumping which was referred by me on behalf of residents in St John's Road in late August of this year.  (name and address can be supplied.)  What action was taken in this case?

Residents are seeking the re-installation of the large boulders which used to block the entrance to this cul de sac laneway as it appears that even when dumpers are caught in the act and evidence supplied it is not possible to address this problem.Would this be possible?"

The Litter Warden Service carried out a site visit/investigation in relation to the illegal dumping at St John's Road prior to reports being received. Their investigations found no evidence regarding ownership of the illegally dumped waste and therefore no fine/prosecution could ensue. The Litter Warden for the area spoke to the witness in question and requested that he complete a witness report form and return. The Litter Warden has been in contact on a couple of occasions requesting the return of the form, to date no witness form has been returned.

The Litter Warden also carried out a vehicle registration check on the registration number provided by the witness, however, this did not match the make and model of the car reported.

All offending material has been removed by the Council's Public Realm Section.

No further action can be taken in relation to this matter at this time.
