QUESTION NO.22

QUESTION: Councillor D. Richardson

"To ask the Chief Executive to please report on the current land at Exchange Hall.  Do we have a plan to use this land?"

REPLY:

The lands adjacent to Exchange Hall, (North of County Hall), are zoned REGEN in the County Development Plan 2016-22.

Regeneration

REGEN

To facilitate enterprise and/or residential led regeneration.

The lands are key to the strategic development of Tallaght Town Centre as the County Town for South Dublin County. The current capital programme 2016-18 has provision to complete the access road linking Belgard Square and Cookstown improving access and development options for the lands.

Members will be aware that the lands were the subject of discussions with Tallaght Hospital on a number of occasions, particularly as part of the joint bid made by the Hospital and the Council for the National Childrens Hospital in 2012. It now appears that the Hospital can accommodate their development plans within the existing campus.

Accordingly, consideration will be given on how best the lands can be made available for uses in accordance with the REGEN zoning following the completion of the road project.
