MOTION: Councillor P. Kearns

"That this Committee asks the Chief Executive, as part of the upcoming tree planting programme to examine the possibility of planting trees on the banks of the Poddle River to replace some that were removed by local residents."

REPORT:

"The 2016 Autumn/Winter tree planting programme will concentrate on street tree planting, as the focus in recent years has been on the maintenance of existing street trees and primarily involved pruning and tree removals.

Tree planting along the river Poddle will not be included in the 2016 programme. As the River Poddle extends along a large area, the Council will identify areas within its ownership and liaise with the Council's Drainage section and the Office of Public Works before considering the possibility of tree planting."
