QUESTION NO. 20
QUESTION: Councillor M. Genockey
"To request full details on what consultation was carried out with residents of Kilmartin Avenue before kissing gates were installed on the road."
REPLY:
Following reports by email and phone call from a resident of Kilmartin ave (29/1/16) outlining “motorcycles racing through at high speed and loose horses running through this lane”, the Estate Management Section investigated the matter of installing a Kissing gate between 34 and 35 Kilmartin Avenue. A petition for the outright closure of the laneway between 34 and 35 Kilmartin Ave had already been received by the Council and signed by 22 residents of Kilmartin Avenue and Drive.
On 9/2/16 the Estate Officer called to interview the tenants of the two houses directly affected by ASB at the location and both families were overwhelmingly in favour of a kissing gate being installed at the location.
The Estate Officer then consulted the Fettercairn Residents Association , at the meetings of 27/1/16 and 17/2/16. The Community Garda for the area was also consulted and they felt the installation of the gates would assist in tackling the ASB in the area. The representatives from Kilmartin and the Residents Association agreed that a kissing gate was required.
