MOTION NO. 9

MOTION: Councillor J. Graham

"That this Committee agrees that the Council carry out the essential repair works in Ronanstown Community Creche."

REPORT:

The Economic Development Section asked the Law Department to re-activate this file on 10/3/16.

The rent on the property is €1 p. a. The crèche is on the ground floor of the building & there are council owned units above.  There had been a drainage issue in the building previously. Previous repairs were completed through the Architects Department.

In the proposed lease the condition states that “Lessee shall keep the premises in a good state of repair & carry out all necessary maintenance on the building (both internal & external) to the Council’s satisfaction.“

Maintenance issues affecting the whole building are the Councils responsibility. Maintenance and repairs affecting only the leased area to Ronanstown Community Centre are their responsibility.

The Economic Development Section will inspect the premises in the coming weeks to ascertain the best way forward. In conjunction with this, the lease with Ronanstown Community Centre will be completed pending advice and update from the Law Department.
