COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE
Wednesday, April 20, 2016
MOTION NO 4.
MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That this committee calls on SDCC to provide shrubbery and trees for areas on Boot Road, Newlands and around Old Naas Wall that where affected by the building of the Newlands fly over in the interest of fairness and community spirit."
REPORT:
An application has been submitted to the TII (formerly NRA) for supplemental planting on the Newlands Cross Upgrade Scheme in the amount of €35,000. This includes the area around the junction itself, those parts of the Fonthill & Belgard Roads that lie within the footprint of the scheme and finally, the area behind the noise barrier in the vicinity of St John’s Drive/Boot Road/Rockfield Drive. Details of the proposed landscaping are attached.
We have spoken to a member of the local Residents Association and we are aware that the matter was discussed at their last meeting and we are awaiting the outcome of that meeting in relation to the detail of the works to be undertaken. Elected members will then be briefed on these proposals and the expected timeframe for implementation in advance.
