QUESTION NO. 8

QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the Chief Executive if he is aware of the campaign to provide a further public Taxi Rank in the Tallaght area; will he confirm if he has had any contact in that regard and if any potential sites have been identified and will he state if he has plans to respond to the campaign?"

REPLY:

The provision of Taxi Ranks is governed by Section 84 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 as amended by Section 15 of the Road Traffic Act 2002 and S.I. No. 598 of the Road Traffic Act 2002 (Commencement) (No 2) Order 2002.

Bye Laws in relation to the designation and use of taxi ranks was discussed and noted at the February 2015 Land Use Planning and Transportation SPC. It was considered appropraite that plans for locating taxi ranks in each village be discussed by each Area Committee prior to drafting bye laws.

The following locations are suggested in Tallaght. However other areas may be prefferred by the members.
