QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor M. Genockey

"To ask the Chief Executive if an outline could be given of proposed plans for a heritage walk in Saggart, including timeframes and what work has been carried out to date on this proposal?"

REPLY:

A Feasibility Study for the Slade Heritage Trail was completed in 2014 with funding from LEADER. The Council's Heritage Officer liaised with local communities in Brittas, Saggart and Rathcoole to develop the concept and work with the consultants to prepare the Study. The Study highlighted the potential and constraints in developing a Heritage Trail which would link the three villages, through the Slade of Saggart.  It is expected that further applications for grant funding from LEADER will be made later this year when funding is announced, to develop the Trail along those sections of the proposed route between Rathcoole and Saggart which are not constrained by landowner issues.
