QUESTION: Councillor C. King

"To ask the Chief Executive to consider the provision of children at play signs in Russell Square Estate particularly on Russell Place where ongoing 'rat running' is a serious safety concern for children in the area?"

REPLY:

Children at Play signs were provided at 14 agreed locations in the area covered by the Tallaght Area Committee in 2015 including Russell Estate. There is no specific provision for Children at Play signs in the Traffic budget for 2016.

However, as part of the Speed Limit review it is anticipated that “Slow Zone” signs (incorporating a 30 kph speed limit and “children symbols”) will be provided at a number of locations. The speed limit review is ongoing and the final outcome will not be known until the procedure outlined in the presentation to the March Area Committee meeting is complete.
