"That the Chief Executive present a report on the potential car park site for Rathcoole Park identifying whether or not the Botherboy Water Scheme prevents this site being used or whether we can work around it."
REPORT:
The following Report was presented to the Clondalkin Area Committee Meeting on the 20th January 2016:
The sketch proposals for a proposed car park at Rathcoole Park which were presented to the Clondalkin Area Committee previously have been the subject of a more detailed design evaluation.
Having considered the presence of an existing water main (Boherboy) that has county wide significance, the existing levels on the site and the depth of the water main below existing ground levels that would not allow for the excavation of the site to a sufficient depth to protect the integrity of the residential amenity of the adjoining houses it is now considered that it would be more sustainable in the long term to utilise the proposed new road as shown on the County Development Plan 2016 – 2022 to access a new car park on the south side of the park. It is therefore proposed to investigate this option. The Elected Members will be updated on progress with this proposal.
There has been no change in the situation since the report was discussed.
