MOTION NO. 23

MOTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

"There are students all over parts of Lucan (and other areas) attending different schools which are not within walking distance which lead to a lot of traffic congestion especially in the morning time. Therefore this motion requests that the CEO investigates the benefit of introducing local school bus service to help alleviate traffic congestion."

REPORT:

It is acknowledged that schools traffic in Lucan and all parts of the County contribute to morning peak congestion. Measures to alleviate this are welcome. The matter of introducing local bus services has been discussed with the real difficulty being the commercial viability of such a service and the reluctance to date of any commercial operator to provide such a service.
