QUESTION NO. 14
QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Brien
"To ask the Chief Executive for a report on the new bike lockers that were installed on the Lucan Road at the junction at Woodies. What has been the uptake and usage of these lockers.
What revenue has been made from these lockers and what was the cost of the supply and installation of these lockers?"
REPLY:
The new Bike lockers were installed in December 2015 as part of the NTA funded N4 Cycle scheme. There has been no uptake in the lockers to date except for some queries, but we are preparing to engage in an information campaign in conjunction with Bike Lockers.ie, who have been engaged by SDCC to provide and manage these lockers on our behalf. This company already have lockers installed at various Train stations , Universities and Companies. We will distribute leaflets, inform Local Representatives, use the Internet and through Corporate Affairs inform Local papers as to their location and the terms and conditions for their use.
The purpose is not to take revenue, as the revenue is provided to the company as part of a management service level agreement for a period of 2 years. The Individual lockers are for hire for €95 per year plus a €25 deposit. The Lockers cost a total of €12,372.50 excl VAT and are the property of SDCC.
