QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor M. Devine
"To ask the Chief Executive for a report on flood damage to Glenview Park/Drive and to outline remedial works deemed necessary to prevent flooding and effluent contamination?"
REPLY:
SDCC has met with the residents of Glenview Park and discussed the flooding issues. The residents have been given details of works carried out to date and proposed works.
SDCC also had a meeting with Irish Water Operations on 26/01/2016 and the urgency of the proposed works was highlighted to Irish Water.
An Asset Needs Brief has been prepared by SDCC for submission to Irish Water for the following works:-
1. Provision of a Combined Sewer Overflow on the South bank of the Tallaght stream just prior to the 450mm foul sewer discharge to the Dodder Valley Sewer. These works could be done by the SDCC Drainage Operations.
2. Provision of two manholes and pipework for the diversion of flow in 450mm foul sewer upstream of Glenview Park to the 600mm Bancroft sewer. Works to be carried out by a contractor.
It is hoped that Irish Water will approve these works quickly to facilitate the alleviation of the flooding problems at this location.
The Public Realm section will examine the trees between the N81 and Glenview Park as requested by the residents.
