QUESTION NO. 13

QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the Chief Executive to confirm if he has made application to the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government for funding to allow for the development of a new Library building in Castletymon, Tallaght, Dublin 24 and will he appreciate the local interest in respect of this issue and detail the schedule he expects to follow in the matter?"

REPLY:

At this moment in time no application has been made to the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government for funding.

The lease on Castletymon Library is due to be reconsidered in 2017 and the Chief Executive will decide in conjunction with the Architects Department whether the lease will be renew or the option for the development of a new library project is feasible.

The bad weather has taken its toll on the library building and every effort is being made by SDCC and library staff to maintain the library in the best condition possible and to continue to offer an excellent service to our patrons.
