QUESTION NO. 7
QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor
"To ask the Chief Executive to refer to the positive response given to this member's Question No. 7 at the January 2016 Tallaght Area Committee Meeting and will he now seek assurances from all Departments in the Council to ensure that senior staff are available for these Meetings which are so important to the delegations attending and will he note the negative image created when Officials were not in attendance at the January Deputations?"
REPLY:
Deputations are statutory meetings whose dates are agreed upon at the relevant preceeding Organisation Procedure and Finance Committee Meeting. Council Officials, along with Elected Members attend the Deputation meetings in order to meet with Residents/Groups to discuss the issues pertaining to them. Due to unforeseen circumstances there was non attendance of some council officials at a Deputation meeting that took place in January. A review has since taken place with regard to the procedures for Council Officials attending and revised arrangements are now in place. A recurrance of the circumstances is not anticipated.
Members should note that in addition to the Deputation process, local groups meet with Council Officials and Elected Members informally on many issues during the year.
