SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 7
MOTION: Councillor C. King
Cathaoirleach's Business
That this Committee calls on the Chief Executive to provide a flagpole and Tricolur to Killinarden Community Centre to form part of their 1916 Rising Centenary Commemorations and to consider rolling out a programme to all Community Centres in the Tallaght area with a view to celebrating our National pride in our Heritage.
REPORT:
As part of South Dublin County Council’s Centenary Programme a commemorations fund was available to community groups to provide financial assistance towards community initiatives or events for the 2016 Celebrations. The fund has now closed and the allocations have all been made for the Tallaght Electoral Area. The Council does not have the funds available to provide for the purchase and installation of flag poles at Community Centres throughout the County. The National Programme is providing flags to all primary and secondary schools in South Dublin County. The Council will have official flag rising ceremonies at Clondalkin Civic Offices on the 15th March for Proclamation Day and an Official Ceremony with the Defence Forces at County Hall, Tallaght on the 11th April 2016.
