Motion: Cllr L O’Toole, Cllr G. O’Connell, Cllr P. Gogarty

That this Council creates a new H3 Objective 5 to provide “Independent Living Residential Courtyard Areas” in suitable areas within our county.

REPORT:

The proposed motion relates to the detailed design of housing for older people and is considered to be more relevant to the Implementation Chapter of the Draft Plan (Chapter 11), which sets out development standards and design criteria for residential development including housing for older people.

Recommendation

It is recommended that this motion is adopted with amendment:

Amend Section 11.3.2 (Residential Consolidation) to promote courtyard type developments at appropriate locations in relation to housing for older people.
