QUESTION: Councillor P. Gogarty

"To ask the Chief Executive, now that Lucan Swimming pool funding from a Councl perspective has been ring-fenced for the design stage and the other requirements earmarked in the rolling Capital Budget, to outline whether any update has been provided by the Minister for Justice or any Government Minister in relation to the provision of the national element of funding through the re-opening of the Swimming Pool Programme or some other mechanism; to outline whether any firm funding commitment has been provided as of yet; and if so, to outline the timeframe of the progression from design to tender to construction stage?"

REPLY:

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport has recently announced that he is considering making a limited number of allocations under the Local Authority Swimming Pool Programme for the construction of new swimming pools and / or the refurbishment of existing pools.

Expressions of interest are to be submitted no later than 5.00pm on Friday 5th February 2016.
