MOTION NO. 5

MOTION: Councillor M. Devine

That this Committee calls on the Chief Executive to arrange for the Calmount roundabout be prioritised for an upgrade. This is a major busy access route and is in a sorry state.

REPORT:

The roundabout at the entrance to Calmount Park is currently maintained by the contractor who maintains the grounds within Calmount Park itself. This roundabout is currently grassed and is maintained to a good standard by that contractor. The Council has no plans at present to carry out any improvement works to this roundabout, it has not been included in the public realm improvement works programme for 2016 which has now been approved. 

The 'teardrop' shaped roundabout which is adjacent to the TV3 premises at Ballymount Cross is in need of upgrading.  This work was commenced in 2014 but not completed. It is proposed that these improvements will be completed in the current year.
