MOTION NO. 8
MOTION: Councillor P. Gogarty
"That the Chief Executive investigates the setting up of consultative park management committees involving residents from surrounding estates, with Willsbrook Park as a pilot scheme, to see where problems such as litter, dumping, antisocial behaviour, rats can be highlighted and dealt with quickly and effectively; and where potential improvements such as planting, upgrading security/access, maintenance, hours of use, bins etc could also be made, with the help of the local authority, Neighbourhood Watch, public agencies and local volunteers; subject to funding and ongoing public interest; and if she will make a statement on the matter."
REPORT:
There are a number of robust system currently in place which allow public representatives, residents and interested groups to engage with the Council. These include Customer Care, Membersnet, fix-your-street, Deputations and Area Committee Meetings. The setting up of consultative park management committees would only replicate these systems. The existing systems are working effectively as means of communicating and there are no proposals to add to it.
