MOTION NO. 19

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"That this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive to present a detailed update report, for discussion, on proposals to tackle traffic congestion at locations in Lucan which were subject to reports, motions and questions at recent meetings of this Committee, most notably Griffeen Avenue and Newcastle Road."

REPORT:

The possibility of changing the location of the bus stops near the roundabout at Griffeen Road/Griffeen Avenue is being examined in conjunction with Dublin Bus.

In relation to Newcastle Road, as stated previously it is not intended to proceed with the trial mini-roundabout at Hillcrest as significant improvements have been achieved following modifications to the signals. Discussions are ongoing in relation to improved access for cars/set down areas at the three schools near the Supervalu roundabout.

Previous reports in relation to the Lucan Access Study, N4 junction improvements and Willsbrook Phase 3 still apply.
