QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"To ask the Chief Executive if there are any plans in place for 2016 to provide heritage information and to improve the surrounding setting of the historic St. John’s Bridge in Griffeen Valley Park?"

REPLY:

King John’s Bridge (St. John’s Bridge) is a Protected Structure under Schedule 2, County Development Plan 2010-2016 RPS Ref. 103. The structure is in the ownership of SDCC. As part of a programme of works to Council owned Protected Structures being managed by the Councils Architectural Conservation Officer, King Johns Bridge has been highlighted as a structure which may require remedial repair and conservation work. The bridge structure is to be assessed and a schedule of works is to be assessed and agreed with regard to any necessary works to the structure. This will then be considered for inclusion in the work programme for 2016.
