QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the Chief Executive to present an update on his plans to attract visitors to Tallaght in 2016?"

REPLY:

A comprehensive presentation and update on the Tourism strategy was given to, and discussed at, a joint meeting of the Arts, Culture, Libraries and Gaeilge and Economic, Enterprise & Tourism SPCs on 11th November. The presentation and the report from the meeting was listed on the December Council meeting

In relation to Tallaght projects the Mountains flagship project meetings are ongoing with Coillte/consultants and it is envisaged that the draft feasibility/master plans will be completed in February 2016. Works on a Tallaght Heritage trail have commenced. Contacts are ongoing with the Tourism Working Group on the potential of festivals and events particularly in relation to the Redline Book festival.
